3 tips to boost trivia engagement and participation

1. Choose a creative and alluring trivia title

Start things off with a creative and fun title that gets participants excited to play. Your title should reveal what type of trivia game it will be and if it has a theme.

For example, if your trivia is about “Company slogans,” avoid an obvious title like “Company slogan trivia.” Instead, give it a little flavor with a title like “Let’s get down to business… slogan edition” or “Slogan 2.0.”

2. Combine hard and easy questions to boost excitement

Keep your audience on a rollercoaster of emotions by mixing hard and easy questions. With a mixed level of difficulty, players can go from extremely confident to under pressure in a matter of rounds, which keeps the game exciting and competitive for everyone.

3. Get creative with themes

Have fun with trivia and choose different themes for the categories or overall game. This helps participants get into the mood and theme and understand what they’re expected to know. By doing so, your players will uncover new knowledge and skills.

How to create a trivia game template

Pick a trivia game theme — for example, facts and figures related to your company or industry.
Choose different categories within that theme. Then, under the title of your trivia, put each theme into a separate column. In this case, it would be separated into clients, mission, contributors, employee talents, and company origin and history.
Under each themed column, write a list of questions on separate sticky notes. These questions will serve as clues.
Once all the questions have been written, cover them with another sticky note that shows the number of points the card is worth. It’s good practice to have different points, as the higher points will add a layer of risk and excitement.
On the right side of the trivia game, create different boxes for each team or player. These boxes will be used to keep track of each team’s points.

How to run the trivia activity:

The person who created the trivia is the “Game Master.” If the creator isn't present, someone else should be chosen to hold and check the answers.
Players are either divided into teams or can play independently.
Once the teams are set, the Game Master chooses a question to ask the group.
Teams choose an answer.
The Game Master reveals the answer.
Any team/player that has answered correctly gets the points designated for that question.
The team/player with the most points at the end is the winner.
